EXTRACTION

EXTRACTION

We offer services and consultations for extraction section as below:

1. HYDRODISTILLATION

Description: Hydrodistillation (HD) is an extraction process for essential oil. Plant sample is directly immersed in water and boiled to produce vapor, later condensed to produced separated essential oil layer and hydrosol.

Recommended sample: Wood, bark, leaf (grinded or chopped to small pieces)

Facility: Lab scale HD set (1-5L); large scale HD set (20L-250L)

2.STEAM HYDRODISTILLATION

Steam hydrodistillation (SHD) is also an extraction process for essential oil. However, steam is used as mean to extract essential oil from softer plant parts.

Recommended sample: Leaf, flower (grinded or cut to small pieces)

Facility: large scale SHD set (20L-250L)

3. SOLVENT EXTRACTION

Solvent extraction is a process in which compounds are separated based on their relative solubilities. This treatment method involves using a solvent - a fluid that has the ability to dissolve another substance. Solvent extraction can purify either a substance that is a liquid or one that is in a solid phase. The liquid mixture that is to be separated is first added to the funnel. When the two extraction solvents are then added to the funnel, they should separate into two phases. After forcibly shaking the funnel and allowing it to stand for several minutes, the two layers can be collected. In the end, the target molecule for extraction will be located in one of the solvents.

Recommended sample: Leaf, flower (grinded or cut to small pieces)

Facility: Lab scale extraction set (100-500mL); large scale extraction set (200L)

4. MICRODISTILLATION

Separation of volatile organic and inorganic liquids by distillation has been an important purification process for many years. While there are many different types of distillation equipment, the spinning band column offer widest range of positive attributes for carrying out separations.

Recommended sample: Organic and inorganic liquid i.e., essential oils, vegetable oils

Facility: Micro distillation system (BR 800 by B/R Instrument)
